Studying in America
America is the second largest country in the world when it comes to population and area. The country has a multicultural society and strongly varying landscapes. When you study in America you’ll discover the beautiful mountain landscapes, the extended planes, hot beaches and impressive cities.

The growing infrastructure of (rail)roads, waterways, airways and telephone, fax, radio, tv and computer (internet) has not only helped agriculture and production to grow, but also assisted in the transition to a service based economy. Roughly 75% of Americans currently work in the service sector.

Population
The population consists of 70% people originating from Europe, 12.5% Latinos, 12.3% African-Americans, 3.6% Asians and 1% natives and Hawaiians. Roughly 80% of the American population lives in the main cities. A large majority, 79.8%, of the population is Christian, 1.4% is Jewish, 0.6% is Muslim, 0.5% is Buddhist and 15% is not devoted to a religion.

Government
America is a federal republic. The federation has 50 states that all operate somewhat independently from the American federal government. The president is the head of state.
